For beginners, this service incorporates hands-on instruction, beginning with what you have at home and what you may already know, followed by instruction on online resources, and possible tours and hands-on research of the local resources and facilities.

The time required is at the discretion of the client or as necessitated by the specific consultation project. For beginners, 3 or 4 hours of overview and hands-on instruction is generally recommended to effectively and successfully begin new family history research.

GENERAL RESEARCH CONSULTATION

Help determining your next step in your research, providing tips and techniques. Discussing what other records to search and other sources and resources that may be available and beneficial. The time required is at the discretion of the client or as necessitated by the specific consultation project.

SPECIFIC PROBLEM LINE CONSULTATION

Help getting past the brick wall in your research through in-depth consultation. For long time, and experienced researchers, this service provides a second set of eyes and a fresh look. Your research will be reviewed, and insight, research tips and suggestions will be provided. The time required is at the discretion of the client or as necessitated by the specific consultation project.

GENERAL HISTORICAL RESEARCH/CONSULTATION

DOCUMENT READING AND/OR TRANSCRIBING

This service provides assistance with reading difficult documents, or transcribing documents as needed. When sending a document to be read and transcribed, please indicate specifically where it was obtained, including the name of the facility, the catalog or microfilm number, plus the state, county, book designation and type of record. If the copy is bad, being able to locate and review the original would be most beneficial.

DISCLAIMER

In genealogy there are no guarantees. It is possible that no records exist for the person, place, or event you are looking for. Records and information may have been lost or destroyed over time. However, we promise to give your request every effort and if the record, or your ancestor, is out there, we will do our best to find it and them!

Many people ask how long does it take to research family history? To be perfectly honest, there is no firm answer. Everyone’s family is unique; as unique as each individual. One person’s family can be difficult and time-consuming while another family can be easy and successful in a very short time. But anyone who has researched their family history will tell you, the fun is in the search and discovery.

Regardless of whether information is or is not found, the professional genealogist is paid for their time and effort.
