The gentleman with the snow white beard is William Smith Wilbanks, son of James and Elizabeth (Martin) Wilbanks, was born on May 15, 1849 in Anderson District, South Carolina. He was married first to Margaret Mariah Kay on August 13, 1868 in Dekalb County, Alabama. She died of cancer on August 2, 1877 near Crossville, Dekalb County, Alabama. By her William had five children. William married secondly to Louisa Jane Bryan on September 23, 1879. Together they had ten children. William was a prosperous farmer of Dekalb County, Alabama where he continued to live until about 1910 when he removed his family to near Albertville, Marshall County, Alabama. There he continued to farm until he died on May 8, 1923. He is buried next to his second wife at the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery, Albertville, Marshall County, Alabama.
